SENIOR PASTOR

OVERVIEW
Mulberry Baptist has an opening for a Senior Pastor at a very exciting time.  We have commenced a major facility upgrade and anticipate a wonderful time of unity and growth.  Our church is eager to re-affirm our vision and strategy in conjunction with our new Senior Pastor.  We are an elder led, opportunity rich church of 150 members with core members who are passionate about serving and leading others to a relationship with Jesus Christ.  Children and youth ministries have been a strong foundation, consistent with the family-centered culture of south Louisiana where we are.  In seeking a senior pastor Mulberry church is looking for someone with the following qualities:
• A commitment to discipleship and engaging in growing leaders in our church body and community.
• A pastor who enjoys building and maintaining relationships and is capable of doing this across a wide demographic.
• An ability to evaluate our community and capabilities and lead in developing a focused vision for our future.
• Someone who is enthusiastic and brings energy while preaching God’s word and engaging in ministry responsibilities.
• A strong desire to live and work in Houma, preferably with ties to the Gulf Coast.

Key Responsibilities:
• The pastor is the spiritual leader of the church.  Working with the staff and lay leadership, the pastor is responsible for planning and implementing weekly worship and teaching experiences as well as periodic special events.  The pastor will work with the Elder Council in planning and scheduling the activities necessary to fulfill the mission of the church.
• The pastor will lead the church to bring people to Jesus Christ and membership in His family.  This duty involves casting for the church a vision of how the great commission can be fulfilled through MBC and equipping her members, by teaching and personal example, to fulfill that vision.
• The pastor will work with the Deacons to lead the church to provide pastoral care for members.  This care will include, but not be limited to, such scriptural admonitions as visiting widows and orphans, visiting those who are sick and in prison, and encouraging the saints.
• The pastor is the Administrative Leader of the church and as such has supervision over all staff members.  The pastor and staff should function as a team.  To that end, the Pastor will conduct periodic staff meetings to ensure the efficient and orderly operation of the church.
• The Pastor will lead annual evaluations of each staff member with the support of the Admin Board as needed.  The annual evaluation of the Pastor will be led by the Elder Council.
• The Pastor is the primary role model for the church in the areas of personal discipleship, including Bible study and prayer, personal evangelism, and scriptural family oversight.  As such the pastor must spend adequate time in each of these areas to ensure his own spiritual maturity so that he can lead the body of believers to continue to grow in spiritual maturity.
